The Twongo concept has been in the incubation period since 2007,
with working titles such as En Masse and iHaggle.

Eventually a search for “team buying” pointed us to China, where the practice of team buying (tuangou) has existed for years. So much for our original idea! With a nod to its origins, and a tweaking of the name, Twongo was born!

The Raleigh-Durham market – our first – opened in January 2010.
